In 1958, Cliff Richard burst on the British music scene as one of the U.K.\'s first homegrown rock & roll singers. More than 30 years later, Richard was still one of England\'s best-loved pop stars, and in 1989 he sold out two concerts at London\'s Wembley Stadium -- the second show was added after the first sold out in less than three hours.
\'The Event\' documents Cliff\'s triumphant headlining gig at Wembley Stadium in June 1989, which saw Cliff running through 31 tracks in front of an army of loyal fans (75,000 people each night).
On June 16 & 17, 1989, Cliff Richard played what he later called the two most challenging live shows of his career to his then largest audience ever, at London\'s Wembley Stadium. Originally planned as a one-off show for the Friday evening another show was quickly added for the following evening after tickets for the first show sold out in three hours! The first part of the event was based on the TV show ‘Oh Boy!’ which had given Cliff his first national television exposure in 1958 and features The Dallas Boys and Vernons Girls.
CLIFF RICHARD From A Distance...The Event (Recorded over 2 days in 1989, this show was based on the TV show \'Oh Boy\' which had given Cliff his first TV exposure 30 years before; the vocal groups & announcer were all brought together for the event, and the set mixes classic hits, tracks taken from his then new album \'Stronger\' alongside Rock\'n\'Roll gems [\'Oh Boy\', \'Blue Moon\']. Cliff was also joined onstage by original Shadows Tony Meehan & Jet Harris, the show culminates with an emotional rendition of \'From A Distance\', complete with a Bonus Picture Gallery).
